a bittersweet birthday

He turned four today. I can't believe how time has FLOWN by! It seems like just yesterday I was bedridden and throwing up my guts, counting the days until his arrival. Now he is swimming independently from one end of the pool to the other, watching Batman movies with his older brother, and prefers fishing with Dad to snuggle time with Mom. It is bittersweet. I am so grateful for this little bundle of, well, JOY. He has brought so much happiness to our family over the last four years. Especially the last three - which have been particularly hard for our entire family. Brady was and is a much needed distraction from the stresses of life we have encountered. Brent says he thinks Brady is a gift from God to help him through all the pain. I know he is. I begged him to stay three. I told him that if he would just not blow out the candles, then he could stay three for me. He refused. Friday, we celebrated his birth with friends and cake and clowns. Today I am grateful for a growing boy who scatters sunshine all over our home every single day.
