Pulmonary Embolisms, Allstars, and pulling teeth

Wednesday Brent woke me up in the middle of the night complaining of tightness in his chest and saying he could not catch a deep breath. He felt prompted to get to the ER right away. Tanner stayed with the lil guys (Jensen was away at Girl's camp) while I took him to the hospital. Originally, he thought he was having a heart attack. Nope. It turned out it was a Pulmonary Embolism. And not just one but two. yikes! The nurse told him he was a lucky man because most Pulmonay Embolisms are found in autopsies. It was scary. So....he was in the hospital for five days. We stayed up there most days visiting him but in the midst of his napping, 4 Argyle children did manage to swim at the ALLSTAR swim meet.

Jensen, Tanner, and Reagan qualified. Reagan swam the backstroke in the individual 50. Both of Tanner's relay teams qualified in freestyle and medley relay. Jensen qualified in both of her individual events (back and free). McKinley ended up swimming at the last minute for another girl her age who didn't show up for a relay. They represented well. It felt weird to be there at the meet without Brent. He normally would never miss something like that. :O( I got a little teary eyed thinking about it, right there in the stands. A sweet friend came over and hugged me about that time. I am so grateful for all the support we felt from our family and ward family during that difficult week. I would not have made it through without you. One of the coolest moments during the whole thing was when Brent got a visit from his own Army of Helaman on Sunday after church. The Priests and Teachers (the class he works with at church) all came to administer the Sacrament to him. All the nurses on the floor were in awe as 17 clean cut teenage boys with white shirts and ties walked reverently down the hospital corrider. It was a sight to behold. Brent said they immediately commented "it must be the Mormons." :O)

During the week he was in the hospital, Reagan had a loose tooth that was just itchin' to be pulled. Um... I don't pull teeth. I am absolutely grossed out by the human mouth so....Dad did it bedside with an IV in his arm and all. There is nothing that man can't do.

The thought of those boys walking to his room makes me cry...we do have a little army of great boys in our ward. So glad our boys are in it together! (and I'm really happy Brent is OK!)
