Me? Two steps ahead of Oprah? Go Figure....



I started this last week and am about halfway through it. I have to admit that I am really loving this story. It is such an interesting premise. It is very intruiging. The protagonist is a mute boy who lives an idyllic life with his parents on their dog breeding farm. Something tragic happens in the middle of the story. Wroblewski is a masterful writer. Today, Oprah selected it as her most recent book club read. I highly recommend it...so far. I hope to finish it this week. I will let you know soon....

Hey, I just wanted to thank you for the encouraging comment on my blog. Things here have been... a little rough. Luke and I have both been battling hand, foot and mouth (I know- an adult with the disease? I never knew either!) And Dan's been out of town on business for about 2 of the last 3 weeks. So the encouragement was timed well.

Anyway, I was just today looking for my next keep-me-up-until-3am book to read. Sounds like a really good one!

Surprise McKinley!

A week ago, McKinley's best friend, Caty, texted me and asked if she could throw McKinley a surprise birthday party on her birthday.  The girls had been challenged by their Young Women leaders to do a 10 hour project for Individual Worth and she thought it would make a great project to plan a fun party for her! She invited 14 fun friends to join in on the surprise. I wish I would have taken the time to take a picture of the cute chocolate fountain and home made cupcakes she made.  She had blown up about 20 balloons and when McKinley walked in to the house they jumped out and showered her with shredded paper.
